I like to read a bit of erotic romances / sexy contemporary when I'm not reading women's fiction, thriller and non-fiction novels. Below are the books I read lately, and what I thought of them.

The King - Tiffany Reisz

Blurb: The Original Sinners: The White Years. Will he take his rightful place as King of Manhattan’s kink kingdom? A man who can’t be tamed…Bouncing from bed to bed on the Upper East Side, Kingsley Edge is brilliant, beautiful and utterly debauched. No one can relieve his self-destructive appetite for carnal acts – except Søren, a man he can never have but whom he has always loved.

A dream that becomes an obsession…

When Kingsley opens the ultimate BDSM club in Søren’s honour – a dungeon playground for New York’s A-list – it becomes his life. With the help of a secretive new assistant, he is soon ruler of a debauched new world.

A fight to the end…But their expertise in domination can’t stop the enigmatic Reverend Fuller – he won’t rest until the club is destroyed. Now it’s one man’s sacred mission against another’s…

Review: Tiffany writes beautifully and her characters are not only interesting, but mysterious. In particular Kingsley and Soren. This was the first book I read, it’s probably best to read the entire series to understand the characters pasts. The chemistry and undeniable love between Kingsley and Soren makes you hope for their happy ever after. I am intrigued to see how the story continues and have The Virgin to read next. This book also has a few sexy scenes. Oh and the cover is just gorgeous.

How To Seduce A Billionaire - Portia Da Costa.

Blurb: The virgin and the billionaire…

Just because Jess Lockhart is a virgin in her late twenties doesn’t mean she isn’t interested in men. In fact, far from it: she fantasies about finding the perfect man who can fulfil her every desire.

Her new boss, handsome billionaire Ellis McKenna, seems perfect for the job. It is clear he is as attracted to her, as she is to him. However, a tragic past has left Ellis vowing to never do ‘serious’ relationships again. Having allowed herself to be seduced by a billionaire can Jess teach him about love?

Review: Portia writes very tasteful erotica, with easy to like characters. When virgin Jess meets the billionaire Ellis of the company she works at, he promises to make her an expert when it comes to sex. However she soon wants more – his heart. Damaged and hurting from the loss of his wife, Jess fears their relationship will never be anything but casual. Jess seems like such a sweetheart that you can’t help but root for her, and Ellis although he’s a billionaire seems caring and quite the gentleman. This book is full of strong characters, sex, and romance! I have also read The Accidental Call Girl by Portia to which I recommend.

The Accidental Call Girl - Portia Da Costa.

Blurb: It’s the ultimate fantasy: When Lizzie meets an attractive older man in the bar of a luxury hotel, he mistakes her for a high class call girl on the look-out for a wealthy client. With a man she can’t resist…Lizzie finds herself following him to his hotel room for an unforgettable night where she learns the pleasures of submitting to the hands of a master. But what will happen when John discovers that Lizzie is far more than she seems…?

Review: Love the book cover, which is initially what captured me, also the storyline. It sounded great, so I started reading it straight away. Portia’s writing is very descriptively well written. The characters are likeable. I was hooked in respect of finding out Johns reaction when he discovers that Lizzie has been lying. You root for the characters and hope that they end up together. The sex scenes are also very steamy – erotica is most certainly is, you will not be disappointed! This was my first read of a Portia Da Costa book and it wont be my last. I want to read the sequel already!

Fifty Shades - All books - E.L James

Blurb: When literature student Anastasia Steele goes to interview young entrepreneur Christian Grey, she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant, and intimidating. The unworldly, innocent Ana is startled to realize she wants this man and, despite his enigmatic reserve, finds she is desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her, too—but on his own terms.

Review: I have a huge respect for E.L James and the amount of books that she has sold, however I don’t think these books were to my taste. If you want an erotic read, and haven’t read books involving BDSM before and are curious, then it’s worth a read. The main character however annoyed me, doesn’t stand up for herself, and Mr Grey, I found to be too controlling. He doesn’t like the woman he loves to have a life of her own, including a job or friends, always tracking down where she is, even buying the company she works at, telling her which friends she can and can't have, what car to drive etc. I just don't feel like she had a life of her own, outside Mr. Grey's. Although I can see why some women would be attracted to the sometimes charming billionaire. I did like the book covers, they were very stylish, and her writing style was descriptive. It was an OK read, I just expected more having gone by the media coverage.

Spice - Scarlet Smith

Blurb: Magazine writer Jess gets her latest freelance assignment – can anyone go from Vanilla to kinky in just fourteen days – and would they even want to?

Jess’ editor, Leyla wants to jump on the ‘mommy porn’ bandwagon, with a sexy blog, and she thinks Jess is just the girl to do it. Jess is given the List, which gives each sexy scenario and also the names and numbers of people who indulge in the weird and wonderful sex stuff, should she wish to ask their advice or expert opinion.

Jess’s latest freelance assignment is a “list” of sexy scenarios to try out. Her busy boyfriend Max is enthusiastic about the variety of sensual adventures. Until they reach the “threesome” option. Max is keen, but if they go too far will they risk everything?

Review: I was provided a copy of this book from the author for an honest review. The blurb caught my attention right away, unique and interesting. The magazine writer Jess has to go from vanilla to kinky in 14 days, her latest assignment. There are quite a few steamy scenes as you’d expect, and I particularly like the authenticity of these, down to the slightly awkward moments, and how they were feeling. Sexting, threesomes, home-made videos, toys, role play etc are only some of what you can expect to find in this book.

Overall great read.
