Did you always want to be a writer?
Yes, I've been writing for as long as I can remember. I wrote stories from a very young age, although then I was writing novels based in the Elizabethan/Tudor era, I was obsessed with how they lived and always wondered what it would have been like to live in those days. I also used to write horrors. I used a type-writer to complete stories, and would give them to my family and friends to read.
Do you have a writing routine?
Pretty much. I can only focus after I've had a coffee. I get my pads, laptop, notes etc ready, and just sit down and either research, or write. Although I do have to check emails first, and post blog content. Oh, and I tend to waste time social-networking too! I write either in my apartment with the music / TV on, or I like to take a notebook to the beach, pool or garden.
Can you tell us a bit about your books?
My erotic romance novels involve broken characters that seek solace in one another. Alternatively, they're straight-laced, and the dark side of them is brought out. My books have to have a lot of chemistry, passion and adventure. I like a big build up, whereby they either despise one another, or it's forbidden for them to be together.
In respect of settings, or topics, I like to push the boundaries a bit, and write about things I'm unfamiliar with, which takes a great amount of time researching. I want male characters that women will fall in love with, and female characters that women will like.
Do you write anything else besides erotica?
Yes. I also write contemporary fiction, and crime / drama. I have two novels to share in these genre's, which I hope to release in the future. They are completely different from the erotic romance novels, and the crime / drama should hopefully attract a male audience too.
Do you find it easy to come up with new book ideas, and where do you get your inspiration from?
I'm always coming up with new ideas for books! If only I could type as quickly as I think. I am inspired by everything around me, be it places, people, conversations I've heard, TV shows etc. My notebook is scribbled with new book plots, and ideas. I'll get them written, eventually.
Can you name some of your favourite books?
I like a lot of genre's: chick-lit, women's fiction, romance, erotica, new adult, thrillers. I have many favourite books, but novels of authors that really stood out for me were by: Jackie Collins, Virginia Andrews, Catherine Cookson, Danielle Steele, Gemma Burgess, Dorothy Koomson, Lauren Weisberger etc. Also, Don Winslow - Savages is probably my fave book of all time! His writing style is completely unique! And the film was amazing too!
What do you do besides writing?
If I'm not working, sunbathing! I love to sunbathe with a good book, and fortunately for me I live in Spain! I'm also a shopaholic, so I can look around shops for hours, even if I only went out to buy one thing! I enjoy a nice relaxing bubble bath, or watching TV / films. Oh, and a cocktail in one of the phenomenal clubs Spain has to offer, or watching the sunset! Bliss!
